making stuff my 6 year old self would love
with soundtrack by Benjamin Greenwood
In many unexpectcted moments Chloe and I found our path to this shared experience of creating Into Pieces/Into Place which is at it's core a healing work. Rebuilding identity after loss is a forced exercise in bravery. Despite grief we have found so much beauty. We have found comfort in our coastal home. We have found the natural ebb and flow of the creative process. We have learned that sometimes destruction gives way to something new.
In abstract forms crawling up the walls we represented growth from discarded things. The beam of a forgotten face offered us our own reflection. In tangled twists we remembered the feeling the knot in the pit of our stomachs. Through imagery of holding and releasing we let go of what we kept us stuck. Deconstructing our limits as we constructed this immersive visual landscape freed us to explore the vastness of all we could become.
We hoped to leave our guests filled solidarity in the knowledge that the gift of falling into pieces is the promise of falling into place.
